Never allow the vehicle to be towed without  
power.  
Towing a vehicle takes practice, especially when  
using a tow rope. Both drivers should be familiar with  
the ins and outs of towing. Inexperienced drivers

If the vehicle is towed with a cable or bar  
trailer, special care must be taken.  
· If possible, have the vehicle towed with a tow truck.  
— The maximum allowable towing speed is 50 km/

in the housing. Otherwise it could come out of the housing

a ball hitch. If an inappropriate tow bar is used, both the  
ball hitch and the vehicle could be damaged. Instead, a  
towline must be used.

Vehicles equipped with a towing hitch ex works do not have  
a mounting for the screw-in towing eye behind the cover.

Install the rear towing eye  
— Remove the towing eye from the on-board tools  
in the luggage compartment ÿ p. 299.  
— Press on the bottom area of the cover in the direction  
of the arrow to release it.  
— Remove the cover and let it hang from the vehicle.  
— Screw the towing eye into the socket, turning it fully anti-
