VW Passat Owner's Manuals

In 2019, the German automaker introduced an updated VW Passat B8 model. The car has several body versions: Variant wagon, sedan, and Alltrack SUV. Hybrid versions of the GTE and GTE Variant are also available. Sales started at a price point of 32 thousand euros.

Externally, the car gained minimal length, only 8 mm. The radiator grille received updated horizontal stripes. The fog lamps have a beveled shape, which affected the design of the front bumper. The shape of the stern, namely the rear bumper, has changed. In the center of the luggage compartment lid is a horizontal Passat inscription.

The headlamps are equipped with LED headlights. IQ.Light matrix headlights with individual control are available as an option.

Interior

The interior of the car has undergone more noticeable changes. The analog clock on the center panel is now replaced by an emergency button. The multifunctional steering wheel has been modernized. The developers have added control buttons that make it easier to drive and do not distract the driver from the road. The interior lighting is available in 32 colors.

The dashboard is represented by an 11.7-inch digital screen, which is available as an optional extra. Analog displays are provided as standard.

The entertainment and information functions are performed by the MIB3 multimedia package. Depending on the configuration, there are 3 versions of multimedia: 6.5 inches, 8 inches and 9.2 inches. The options include Wi-Fi, Volkswagen We software application.

Technical specifications

The engine lineup received an updated 2-liter TDI Evo turbo diesel engine, which is more fuel-efficient and slightly lighter than previous power units. The engine model will be used for Golf and Audi.

Powertrains from the previous lineup remain available. The engine is combined with a 6-band manual and a robotic DSG. The range includes a 2-liter diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 240 hp. The engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters reaches 120 horsepower. Gasoline engines are represented by versions with a displacement of 2 liters and an output of 190 and 272 hp.

The updated VW Passat B8 has an electromechanical brake booster, which was previously available for hybrid versions.

Safety systems and driver assistants

The restyled model received adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, Travel Assist and autopilot. The latter option provides auto-driving even at a speed of 210 km/h, but the driver must monitor the situation and keep his hands on the wheel.

The car is equipped with a front collision warning system that includes driver warning and partial braking. The range of options includes emergency assistance in the event of a driver's loss of consciousness, a traffic jam assistant, and parking assistants.
