VW Passat B8 Owner's Manual ➜ Cruise control (GRA)

· Never use the speed controller in
Driver assistance systems
in heavy traffic, if you do not have enough distance,
on steep, curvy or slippery sections (eg in the event
of snow, ice, rain or loose gravel), or on flooded roads.
Speed governor (GRA)
· Never use the speed controller off-road or on
roads that are not firm ground.
Introduction to the topic
· Always adapt the speed and the safety distance
with respect to the preceding vehicle depending
on the visibility, weather, road and traffic
conditions.
The cruise control (GRA) helps to maintain a
constant speed set by you.
· After use, always switch off the speed controller
to avoid unintentional speed regulation.
Speed range Cruise
control is available when driving forward at a speed
greater than approx. 20 km/h (15 mph).
· It is dangerous to use a previously saved speed
when it is excessive for the current road, traffic
or weather conditions.
Driving with cruise control The stored
speed can be exceeded at any time, e.g. eg to
overtake. Control is interrupted during acceleration and
is resumed at the stored speed.
· On downhill journeys, the cruise control cannot
maintain constant speed. This can increase
due to the weight of the vehicle. If so, brake
the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal.
indications on the screen
When the cruise control is connected, the display of the
instrument cluster shows the saved speed and the system
status: The cruise control is active.

cluster display instead of the speed.
Shift gears
As soon as the clutch pedal is depressed, the
regulation is interrupted and resumed once the gear has
been changed.
Going down hills
When driving downhill, the stored speed may be
exceeded due to the slope.
Brake the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal and, if
necessary, downshift.
