– Tighten bolts -1 to 5- in 2 stages in the sequence shown:
1 - Tighten bolts by hand.
2 - Tighten bolts to 9 Nm
Lower timing chain cover - tightening sequence for version with
15 bolts
– Tighten bolts -1 to 15- in 2 stages in the sequence shown:
– 1. Tighten bolts to 8 Nm.
– 2. Turn bolts 45° further.

Removing and installing camshaft con‐
trol valve 1 - N205-
– If fitted, remove charge air duct to sound generator
⇒ page 455 .
– Detach connector from inlet camshaft control valve 1 - N205-
-1-.
– Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove inlet camshaft control
valve 1 - N205- .
Installing
•
Specified torque ⇒ page 88
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following.
– Lubricate seal and O-ring with engine oil.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-
♦ Open-end spanner insert AF 10 - V.A.G 1783/1-
Removing
– Remove engine cover panel ⇒ page 141 .
– Only vehicles with sound generator: Open catch -1-, unclip fuel
lines -2- and loosen bolt -3- on activated charcoal filter. Place
charge air pipe to one side.
