♦ Torque wrench - V.A.G 1331-
Note
♦ A securely seated battery terminal clamp ensures trouble free
function and long service life of the battery.
♦ When securing terminal clamp, ensure that it is completely
seated on battery terminal.

Battery in engine compartment
Carry out following procedure:
– Open battery cladding cover (if fitted).
– Check whether battery terminal clamps are secure on battery
terminals by moving battery positive cable and battery nega‐
tive cable back and forth.
WARNING
If the battery terminal clamp is not seated securely on the bat‐
tery positive terminal, first disconnect battery terminal clamp
on battery negative terminal to prevent possible accidents.
If the battery terminal clamp is NOT seated securely on positive
terminal:

– Loosen the -NEGATIVE- battery terminal clamp and remove.
– Tighten -POSITIVE- terminal clamp to 6 Nm using torque
wrench - V.A.G 1331- and ratchet - V.A.G. 1331/1- .
– Reconnect -NEGATIVE- terminal clamp and tighten it to 6 Nm
using torque wrench - V.A.G 1331- and ratchet - V.A.G.
1331/1- .
If battery terminal clamp is NOT seated securely on negative ter‐
minal:
– Tighten -NEGATIVE- terminal clamp on battery terminal to
6 Nm using torque wrench - V.A.G 1331- and ratchet - V.A.G.
1331/1- .
