Checking control valve  
– It must be possible to press in piston -1- approx. 3 mm against  
spring force. It must move freely, without sticking.  
Crankshaft chain sprocket - installation position

♦ Clamping pin - T10531/2-

Removing:  
– Remove timing chain cover (top) β‡’ page 91 .  
– Turn vibration damper to β€œTDC” position -arrow- using coun‐  
terhold - T10355- .

Notch on vibration damper must align with arrow marking on  
cover for timing chains (bottom).

The markings -1- on the camshafts must face upwards.

– Remove control valve using assembly tool - T10352- (engine  
codes CCZA, CCZB, CDAA, CDAB: assembly tool -  
T10352/1- ) in -direction of arrow-.  
Caution  
The control valve has a left-hand thread.
